SAN MATEO, Calif. – September 30, 2008 – Untangle today introduced its free “Silver Bullet” program to enable channel partners to audit customer networks and demonstrate Untangle right from a USB stick.
The “Silver Bullet” comes pre-loaded with Untangle’s Re-Router Technology™ and enables managed service providers (MSPs), resellers and consultants to provide gateway protection and filtering without adding any new hardware or reconfiguring or re-cabling their customers’ networks. In addition to allowing for speedy installation of a complete Untangle Server on any Windows XP desktop, the “Silver Bullet” lets channel partners easily demonstrate the value of blocking spam, spyware and inappropriate websites at the gateway without disrupting network activity.
“A lot of our small business customers don’t want to deal with the complex network configurations and cabling associated with security appliances,” said Dave Mayhew, owner of SBS Network Support, an Untangle partner. “Now, we can both demonstrate the effectiveness of our security offerings and solve our prospective customers’ problems immediately without any hardware or any disruption to their network—it is network security made even easier.”
The portability and easy installation of Re-Router™ Technology on the “Silver Bullet” is opening new customer segments to Untangle’s channel partners.
“The Silver Bullet is a great sales tool for channel partners that enables them to provide introductory free network audits without wasting any of their technician’s time,” said Chris Sterbenc, VP Sales at Untangle. “With Re-Router™ Technology, our partners no longer need to dedicate hardware and tie up their working capital in the sales process or disrupt their prospect’s network. It’s a big win for our partners because that eliminates a huge point of friction in the sales process.”
Not to be confused with desktop security software like McAfee or Norton, Re-Router™ Technology protects all the computers on the network and not just the host.
“Re-Router™ Technology is just the latest example of how Untangle pays attention to the needs of its partners,” said Manny Echeverria, CEO of Micronek Systems, an Untangle MSP Partner. “Now, our field technicians can leave the evaluation hardware behind and carry Untangle with them to deploy in the moment, saving us and our clients time and energy.”
For more information and to obtain a free “Silver Bullet” USB stick, channel partners should call an Untangle account manager on (866) 233-2296.
