MSPAlliance Position on Net Neutrality

There is an inconspicuous yet very important debate taking place regarding the US Federal Communications Commission and “net neutrality”, or the idea that ISPs/telecom providers and the managed services they provide should be regulated. Specifically regarding the idea that the FCC would prohibit ISP/broadband providers from arbitrarily slowing down certain aspects of their internet access to users. For example, if a provider wanted to offer a managed service around VoIP (which might negatively affect regular broadband users if their traffic becomes too limited), they would be prohibited from doing so under the proposed FCC regulations. The MSPAlliance is against any proposed regulations that would limit innovation or prohibit managed service providers (MSPs) from doing what is in their client’s best interests.
