It may be coincidence but in the last few days I’ve fielded calls and emails from more than a handful of MSP companies who are either pre-launch or within 6 months of launch. If it is not coincidence, then could this be another wave of new entrants to the managed services profession? Let’s take a closer look.
There are a number of factors that could be contributing to companies starting up in managed services.
- Unemployed/underemployed taking matters into their own hands and starting a business
- Entrepreneurs wanting a safe business model in which to invest
- Increased need and complexity of IT
- Ever decreasing costs of getting into managed services
Whatever it may be, the companies I’m speaking with are seemingly well organized, some are looking for funding to rapidly expand, and they are all clearly focused on managed IT services as their core offering. What is even more curious, is that more than a few of these new startups are targeting vertical markets right from the beginning.
It will be curious to see if this trend continues but for now, I thought it was interesting enough to write about. I’ll keep you posted with any developments but if you happen to experience this same phenomena, please let us know. This is yet more evidence of how great a profession managed services really is!
