Cloud backup and recovery software vendor Asigra has just announced v12. Here’s a quick look at what’s new and improved with the storage platform.
Cloud to Cloud Backup: Backing up to the cloud may have be old news but the trends are unambiguously moving towards backing up cloud platforms This is precisely what Asigra has done with their “cloud to cloud” backup feature. According tot he company, MSPs can now backup the complete database of Salesforce.com. As Asigra is quick to point out, Salesforce does not do a lot to guarantee backup and restoration of their customer data, which is why having a backup strategy is very important for all of your business critical applications and systems.
Any Device Recovery: Backing up Windows and Linux devices is not new. Now, Asigra has added functionality to recover data from end point devices, including non-rooted Android devices for complete recovery of call logs, settings, applications, SD card data, calendar, alarm clock settings, music, SMS/MMS communications, bookmarks, photos and videos.
Snapshot Support: Managing big data via snapshots is now supported in version 12. MSPs can now take and manage snapshots of large data sets, making recovery much easier.
Virtual Machines: Asigra partners can now offer support of virtualized machines, including instant activation of VM backup copies.
Asigra continues to expand its technical capabilities, as well as aggressively court the MSP community world wide. We will continue to monitor how the adoption of v. 12 is being received by MSPs.
