Building and Operating a Network Operation Center: It’s Easier Than You Think

For some reason MSPs really get stuck on the issue of Network Operation Centers (NOC). It’s a very common term, everybody in managed services has heard it, and yet very little real understanding exists. I should say, there is a lot of variation amongst MSPs when it comes to NOCs, their purpose, how to build them, and how to operate them in a cost effective manner. In fact, you could say it has been a pet cause of mine for a while now to educate and inform MSPs on why the NOC is such an important facet of your managed services practice. If you happen to be one of those MSPs who has questions about NOCs, then we can help.

MSPNews will be hosting a webcast on NOvember 1 at 2 pm EST on Building and Operating a Network Operation Center. The webcast is sponsored by ConnectWise and will feature experts who will discuss a variety of issues related to NOC architecture, work flow, construction, and operation. Some of the topics we will cover will include:

  • Why are NOCs important?
  • What functions do they serve?
  • Are NOCs still important for MSPs?
  • How has Cloud affected the NOC?
  • Finances of building a NOC/Help Desk
  • NOC Operation Models: From 24/7 to part time to hybrid and partner based
  • Outsourcing NOC/Help Desk services doesn’t always make sense
  • Tools necessary to operate a NOC/Help Desk
  • Checklist guide (based on the UCS audit standard) on what your NOC/Help Desk ought to look like when it is completed
  • And much more
