COLUMBIA, S.C., May 19, 2005 – – Business Vitals, a Columbia-based IT risk management firm, was presented with a Palmetto Pillar Award by the Information Technology Council of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce at its fourth annual awards banquet at the Marriott Columbia hotel on May 12.

Business Vitals was recognized in the Small Enterprise category for its use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology to secure IT networks for its clients. The company specializes in IT risk management services, including IT security audits, business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) planning, IT operational risk assessments, interim CIOs and consulting services.

The Palmetto Pillar Small Enterprise Award recognizes a Columbia-based company with fewer than 50 full-time employees or less than $20 million in revenue for spearheading technology achievement in the Midlands and for the innovative application or development of a technology-based product, process or service. Awards are presented by the Columbia Information Technology Council, which consists of technology leaders whose goal is to promote Columbia as a desirable location for IT companies.
