Consonus Contributes 60,000 To University of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 12, 2005 Consonus, a Salt Lake City-based provider of data center, professional and IT managed services, has entered into a partnership with the University of Utahs David Eccles School of Business to support the Opportunity Program, which provides tuition assistance to under-represented students.  As part of this partnership, Consonus will donate ,000 to the program and provide a professional internship for one student as well as participate in an Advisory Council position soon to be formed.

We are very excited to support the Opportunity Program at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, said Nana Baffour, managing principal of Consonus parent company Knox Lawrence International (KLI). Due to an increasingly complex and global world, the need for communities to embrace diversity is not only the right thing to do but absolutely imperative to their viability and success.

The Consonus contribution will be used to provide tuition fees for four under-represented students in the Opportunity Program, which currently serves 40 under-represented and/or first-generation college students. Consonus has also agreed to provide an internship opportunity for a deserving student as part of the companys participation in the program.

The Opportunity Program provides an excellent opportunity for incredibly talented young men and women to obtain what is undoubtedly a passport to a better life for themselves, their families and the larger communities in which they live and work, said Baffour. Consonus is proud to contribute its small part to make the dreams of these young people a reality.

A college education becomes more of a possibility for at least 40 under-represented students each year through funding from the Opportunity Program at the David Eccles School of Business.  The Opportunity Program, started in 1996, is designed to increase diversity at the School and help under-represented students such as Hispanic/Latinos, African Americans, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders. The Consonus contribution will be utilized for new, incoming students to the Opportunity Program beginning this fall.

“I am pleased Consonus has chosen to partner with the David Eccles School of Business and to invest in the education of our students, said Jack W. Brittain, dean of the David Eccles School of Business. We have extraordinary students at the David Eccles School, and Consonus’ generosity ensures students who might otherwise struggle will have the financial resources they need to achieve their full potential. I am deeply grateful to Consonus for the support and proud to have them as a partner.”
