Billerica, Mass. (October 17, 2006) – In response to the needs of end users for comprehensive, reliable IT management, SilverBack Technologies is launching its SilverSphere™ partner program. The eleven initial members of SilverSphere include Bell Microproducts (NASDAQ: BELM), Lexmark (NYSE: LXK), Packeteer (Nasdaq: PKTR), Tripp Lite, Autotask, Service-now.com, eEye Digital Security, Digital-DNS, Do IT Smarter, Network Partners, and SilverBack Technologies. Their objective in joining SilverSphere is to coordinate solutions for MSPs, avoiding common pitfalls around integration and interoperability that frequently disappoint end users.
SilverBack provides the MSP industry’s leading event lifecycle management platform. It monitors and manages the complete IT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, network and security devices, printers, and UPS systems. SilverBack and other SilverSphere partners will work to design, develop, and implement integrated solutions that reduce costs while improving IT infrastructure availability, performance, and security—all key areas of concern for the end user.
“Because end users are demanding cohesive IT management, MSPs need products and services that are designed and developed to be collaborative in nature,” said John Igoe, SilverBack CTO. “The goal of SilverSphere is to provide a complete information ecosystem whereby the most popular applications such as server management, print management, power management, WAN acceleration, security, and CRM can be integrated into a reliable yet flexible service delivery platform.”
“We’re always looking for solutions that allow our resellers to provide more value to their customers. A great way to do that is efficient outsourced management based on comprehensive integrated facilities,” said Gary Gammon, Sr. Vice President of Marketing of Bell Microproducts, San Jose, Calif. “The SilverSphere program will help customers offer a more compelling server and storage solution.”
“Managed services are gaining greater attention and acceptance among mid-size organizations, but these customers are seeking end-to-end solutions that can meet their enterprise-wide IT management needs rather than contracting for a series of product-centric services,” according to Jeffrey M. Kaplan, managing director of THINKstrategies, an independent consulting company focused on the business implications of new IT services. “SilverSphere is a timely initiative to bring together a wide array of technology vendors interested in coordinating their efforts to deliver more integrated managed services via trusted channel organizations.”
"We're pleased to be one of the first members of the SilverSphere program," said John Fomook, Director of Channel Marketing for Packeteer. "SilverSphere can help channel partners generate incremental revenue through delivering a more complete solution to their customers, and this is always good for the channel and end-users alike."
