Managed services analytics and reporting software platform, BrightGauge Software, today announced the appointment of a new CEO, Eric Dosal. BrightGauge was co-founded by owners of a Miami based managed services firm Compuquip, which sold its managed services division to All Covered last year. Eric Dosal, who had remained to oversee the transition of the acquisition to All Covered, apparently is now finished with that task and will join his brother, Brian Dosal, and continue to grow BrightGauge, the company they founded back in 2010.
BrightGauge pulls data from RMM and PSA vendors Autotask, Kaseya, ConnectWise, LabTech, and GFI Max, allowing the data to be mined and repurposed in user friendly reports, designed both for internal service provider use, as well as for end-user customers. While we have seen similar MSP reporting software ventures in the past, non of them has ever taken off. However, I think BrightGauge could be different for a couple of reasons.
First, having solid operational talent and leadership is important and BrightGauge does have that. Both co-founders, in addition to being brothers, were operators of a managed services firm, so they know what types of reporting and analytics are important to be successful.
Second, reporting has never been the strong point for a lot of the managed services enabling technologies. In fact, it’s one of the common complaints we hear from managed service providers for why they feel limited as to the types of data they can turn over to their customers. While reporting and analytics may seem simple to some, it is an important aspect of what service providers do and an even more important validation to customers about the services they are consuming.
Third, many of the public cloud solutions currently being offered by managed service providers are really bad at reporting. It will be interesting to see if BrightGauge has success in tapping into this data pool. Clearly, there is a lot of potential here and we will continue to track how they perform.
