Fairfax, VA & Commack, NY — September 19, 2007 — Managed services providers mindSHIFT Technologies and Invision today announced the merger of these Northeast-based IT services companies. The merger expands mindSHIFT’s comprehensive portfolio of data and voice services – which includes managed IT services, software-as-a-service (SaaS), managed VoIP, compliance and professional services -- with two critical value-added services: managed hosting and e-business applications. Invision will operate as the mindSHIFT Managed Hosting and e-Business Applications Division. This merger is mindSHIFT’s third transaction in 2007.
mindSHIFT, founded in 1999, provides such critical services as email management and administration, electronic backup for servers and desktops, virus and spam protection, desktop support and server management – either at the customers’ premises or completely off-site. With operations in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., mindSHIFT manages more than 14,000 desktops and servers and counts more than 400 associations, non-profits, law firms, professional services firms and financial services firms as customers.
Invision, a New York-based firm founded in 1995, offers managed services for hosting and Web and e-business development and integration to over 700 customers.
In managed hosting, a customer’s Web site, applications, and/or equipment are hosted at a secure data center. Beyond traditional Web application and email hosting, Invision can also host and manage storage services, streaming media, and IBM System i5 (formerly iSeries) systems in its SAS 70 Type II compliant data centers.
Invision’s e-business capabilities include application development and integration disciplines such as .NET and Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2007. The company has been especially successful in securing application development engagements for e-business.
“Invision’s value-added services are crucial in this Web 2.0 era, which emphasizes collaboration and sharing between users,” said Paul Chisholm, mindSHIFT Chairman and CEO. “The collaborative aspects of SharePoint, for example, will enable a customer’s employees to manage content and workflow, find resources, search for information, and leverage that business insight to make better-informed decisions. This will foster long-lasting customer relationships.”
“Being part of mindSHIFT enables us to continue to grow and bring innovative and efficient IT solutions to our customers,” said Tyler Roye, Invision CEO and co-founder who will now serve as Senior Executive Officer of mindSHIFT’s Managed Hosting and e-Business Applications Division. “We will combine the best practices of both companies to produce high-quality services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction,” he said.
