MSPAlliance Announces Code Of Ethics & Conduct For Managed Service Providers

CHICO, CA, January 8, 2007 – The MSPAlliance (www.mspalliance.com/), the International Association of Managed Service Providers, today announced the Managed Service Provider’s Code of Ethics and Conduct for its global membership of Managed Services Providers (MSP). The code will be used to standardize the conduct of MSPAlliance members around the world, as well as provide a foundation for professional ethics and interaction of all MSPs.

The MSPAlliance Code marks the first time a set of ethical rules has been promulgated specifically for the managed services industry. The code sets forth principles for members within the MSPAlliance. The code not only will be used as a code of conduct necessary for maintaining good standing within the membership, but will also be used to assure managed services clients that MSPAlliance members adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards.

“The code of conduct marks a turning point for the MSPAlliance and the managed services industry,” said Michael Backers, CEO of Altoria Solutions and a board member of the MSPAlliance. “As the managed services industry continues to grow at a rapid pace, setting standards and ethics is a critical element in earning and keeping our customers’ trust, and is paramount to our success and longevity.”

The code sets forth specific ethical behavior for managed services professionals, while also encouraging MSPAlliance members to engage in activities that advance the cause of the membership and the industry, such as education, professional advancement and managed services advocacy.

“Any profession that seeks to gain legitimacy amongst their peers and clients must have clearly defined rules that will help guide their activities and promote confidence,” said Celia Weaver, vice president of the MSPAlliance. “The Managed Services Provider Code of Conduct signifies an elevation of the bar for this industry, and is designed to provide customers with the highest degree of assurance in the professionalism and integrity of Alliance members.”

The MSPAlliance also announced several enhancements to the Managed Services Accreditation Program, the industry’s only best practices platform. Chief among the enhancements to the Program was the addition of an on-site facilities and processes audit designed to verify the accuracy of the statements made in the Accreditation exam.

“The Managed Services Accreditation Program has always been a mark of distinction for those MSPs who have completed it,” said Charles Weaver, president of the MSPAlliance. “Now, MSPs can provide their clients with additional assurances that their facilities, security practices, and other managed services procedures have been externally verified.”

There are currently 15 companies who have successfully completed the Managed Services Accreditation Program with approximately 40 companies who are currently going through the process.
