SAN JOSE, CA -- 06/27/2005 -- NetIQ Corp. (NASDAQ: NTIQ), a leading provider of integrated systems and security management solutions, today announced that NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. (NEC), a leader in converged voice and data communications solutions for the enterprise, is using NetIQ® AppManager® for VoIP as part of its SecurePlus monitoring solution to successfully monitor and remotely manage critical network components of data and IP Telephony systems. NetIQ® VoIP Management solutions are a key piece of NetIQ's Knowledge-Based Service Assurance strategy, which provides customers with systems and security management solutions that empower IT with the knowledge to assure service.
According to Infonetics Research's latest report, "VoIP Services Annual Market Size and Forecast for North America," North American VoIP service revenue topped .3 billion in 2004, and is expected to soar 1,431% to .9 billion in 2009. As Kevin Mitchell, directing analyst for Infonetics and author of the report, stated, "VoIP services are relatively new to the telecommunications scene, so the growth rates will be extremely high as communication networks and services trend towards VoIP."
Understanding the potential growth capabilities of this market, NEC has made considerable investments in its telecommunications services offerings. Through SecurePlus, NEC provides an extension of a customer's IT department with guaranteed, cost-effective, non-intrusive out-tasking of fault, configuration, performance, and security management. Additionally, SecurePlus provides customers with complete visibility of their IP communications network through a customized, intuitive web interface. These offerings are available to NEC's customers through both its direct and dealer channels.
"As a total solution provider, NEC is concerned not just with technology, but ultimately, with how the technology will enable customers to be more successful in their business," said Jay Krauser, general manager of Product Management for NEC Unified Solutions. "The NetIQ VoIP Management solution helps us to prepare clients for their VoIP deployment as well as maximize the performance and availability of their IP telephony systems and applications."
A growing number of universities, healthcare, and financial institutions, to name a few, are putting their VoIP deployments and subsequent infrastructure in the hands of NEC. "These organizations require 99.999% reliability and cannot afford 'downtime.' If these mission-critical systems were not available or performing optimally, a significant amount of revenue would be lost," Krauser continued.
"We place a high value on our Managed Service Provider (MSP) relationships and have shaped technology and business programs specifically to meet their needs," said David Pann, vice president and general manager of the VoIP Business at NetIQ. "Leading solution providers, such as NEC, find NetIQ's commitment to their success reflected in special licensing, dedicated relationship management and technical support teams. AppManager for VoIP is quickly becoming an integral part of the success of a growing number of MSPs."
