is SaaS already Huge?

We all hear the hype about SaaS and Cloud opportunities, well don’t take it from me I have only been doing this for over 30 years but here are some quotes from the pros that have a pulse on the industry.

1.  Gartner estimates that, over the course of the next five years, enterprises will spend $112 billion cumulatively on software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS), combined.

2.  June 22, 2010 — ? ? Worldwide cloud services revenue is forecast to reach $68.3 billion in 2010, a 16.6 percent increase from 2009 revenue of $58.6 billion, according to Gartner, Inc. The industry is poised for strong growth through 2014, when worldwide cloud services revenue is projected to reach $148.8 billion.

3.  CRN Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is the fastest growing segment of cloud computing and will be instrumental in pushing the cloud market to $25 billion in the next three years, a new report from MarketResearch.com revealed.

So what is my point? Simple, from online backup to hosted apps and complete Virtual Desktops cloud is here to stay and growing faster than anything I have seen.  Heck who would have ever thought that everyone would someday have a cell phone and now a smart phone.
