Billerica, Mass. (April 9, 2007) – Extending traditional network managed services to include servicing the desktop, SilverBack Technologies today announced a new desktop monitoring package with lowered desktop pricing and additional third-party Help Desk support for managed service providers (MSPs) and reseller/solution providers. With an annual license, the price for SilverBack Desktop Monitoring is $1.33 per desktop per month, making it among the lowest-cost desktop solutions available in the MSP/reseller industry today.
With this desktop package, SilverBack addresses key desktop services that MSPs can perform for their customers remotely, such as monitoring and alerting, asset reporting, VPN-less remote access, patch updating, and general PC maintenance with technical resolution.
“The beauty of SilverBack’s lowered desktop services package is that it allows us to give our customers a more complete, bumper-to-bumper service offering,” said Russ Bryant, vice president of Managed Services for Datotel of St. Louis, MO. “With desktop services now on the table, we get an opportunity to get that much more ingrained with our customers’ businesses, which is the name of the game.”
SilverBack has been an industry leader in helping VARs/resellers and solution providers transition into Managed Service Providers. With SilverBack's platform and methodology, these MSPs have been successfully managing core IT infrastructure elements – servers, security devices, network devices, and critical applications – yet largely ignoring the desktop mostly because of the high costs associated with providing technical support to hundreds of PC users.
“Our partners have always been focused on managing core IT systems since that’s where the money is,” said Jonathan Wolf, VP of Product Management for SilverBack. “However desktop support has become necessary to provide as well. Our key concerns were where to draw the line with supporting end users, and how to stay in the game in a price competitive environment.”
To meet the challenges of supporting PCs, SilverBack will team up with Do IT Smarter of San Diego, which will provide optional third-party Help Desk support. As a result, partners that don’t want to incur the additional costs of hiring staff to handle end-user questions can instead contract with Do IT Smarter. Do IT Smarter will provide remote help desk services that SilverBack partners can resell with a healthy margin.
“We are enthusiastic to collaborate with SilverBack Technologies in their new Desktop Management program,” said Don Begg, CEO of Do IT Smarter. “We see the need for proactive network management that includes desktops. By packaging new desktop offerings and outsourcing the help desk to a dedicated resource such as us, SilverBack MSPs will see the potential to earn additional revenues by offering a broader set of services that includes maintenance of PCs in addition to servers and network devices.”
