(June 28, 2006) – To provide managed services providers (MSPs) and resellers with a robust desktop management solution, SilverBack Technologies today announced it will ship enhanced PC desktop management software in mid-July. Unlike alternatives, the management software requires no agent running on the desktop, yet it supports dynamic IP addresses for notebook PCs and desktops using DHCP. Resellers and MSPs can use the new desktop management capability to detect health and security problems; to monitor and report on CPU, disk, and memory usage; and to scan for patches and vulnerabilities. Administrators will be able to deploy patches and launch scripts remotely, as well as connect to individual desktops for problem resolution.
The enhanced desktop management technology is an add-on capability to the company’s flagship Datacenter Enterprise product. Key features of the SilverBack desktop management solution include:

* Monitors applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer plus system health characteristics such as disk fragmentation and printer access
* Supports desktops with varying IP addresses (e.g. DHCP, wireless users)
* Supports mobile, remote users even when they’re not on the corporate network
