Zenith Infotech Changes BDR Pricing Model

akash sarafZenith Infotech Ltd. has released a new version of it’s backup and disaster recovery appliance. The BDR-G14, offered through a new DRaaS model, now utilizes StorageCraft® ShadowProtect® 5.x that supports Windows Server 2012, new onsite storage capacities, and secure offsite replication with expandable shared storage. The appliance features automated 15-minute snapshots, offsite replication, easy file recovery, emergency server virtualization and live bare metal restores.

“Service providers are constantly evaluating the advantages and challenges of onsite devices vs cloud services, particularly in backup and disaster recovery,” says Zenith CEO Akash Saraf. “Zenith DRaaS provides a hybrid approach. But where we’re really changing the game is with the cloud portion. We charge one price for an offsite vault with expandable shared storage to dramatically lower a partner’s costs. The era of per-GB pricing is at an end at Zenith.”

The new product also features a new pricing model. Zenith’s new DRaaS approach provides onsite devices at low monthly rates. Then, partners rent a BDR-G14 Vault in Zenith’s datacenter for replication of up to 25 local appliances. The Vault has a set monthly price that doesn’t increase as more local BDR-G14 appliances are replicated to it.  That means that MSPs pay the same rate whether they’re storing 2 TB or 225 TB in the cloud. “Offsite storage rates seem low on paper. But as GBs turn into TBs, the cost snowballs. With stable Vault pricing, our partners can increase their revenues without increasing their expenses,” Saraf explains.

That’s very attractive to MSPs providing disaster recovery, according to early discussions with partners. “We’ve had partners ask, ‘So there’s no additional cost as I expand my offsite storage? What am I missing?’ I’m thrilled to tell them they aren’t missing a thing – we’ve taken the pain out of cloud storage.”
