If you don’t know what your company’s cloud strategy is my suggestion is get one, quickly. Not only is cloud computing a viable service delivery mechanism, it is also something that your clients will be asking you for, if they aren’t already.
I’ve been talking to a lot of MSPs lately who are busy engineering their first cloud services. Most of these are focused around backup and storage, while others are developing security solutions that can be delivered in the cloud. Whatever it is you end up doing keep these reference points in mind.
– cloud computing from big vendors WILL NOT have a negative impact on MSPs
– cloud computing should be one of many service options you have in your arsenal
– a secure cloud offering can actually put you at a competitive advantage to the big vendors
– a cloud service is only a method of service delivery, it is not a product in and of itself
We should continue to see a lot of activity in cloud services for the remainder of the year. Many MSPs will continue to expand their cloud strategies while those firms that don’t have one will be at significant risk.
