Consonus successfully completes SAS 70 Type II audit

SALT LAKE CITY – October 30, 2007 – Consonus, a leading provider of AllWaysOn™ data centers and IT managed services, has recently completed a SAS 70 Type II audit, confirming the reliability, security, availability, and processing integrity of services provided through its world-class data center facilities in Utah. The results of the audit confirm Consonus’ ongoing commitment to assist its clients in their efforts to prove financial and security controls and compliance within their own corporate governance, particularly according to Sarbanes-Oxley and other legislation.

The SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70) Type II examination is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  A SAS 70 audit represents that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and activities, which often include controls over information technology and related processes.

As Daniel Milburn, Senior Vice President and COO of Hosting and Infrastructure at Consonus, explains, “In today's data-centric economy, it is absolutely critical for us, as a service organization, to demonstrate that we have the right processes and safeguards in place to protect and maintain data belonging to our diverse customer base.”

Independent auditor Grant Thornton completed the recent SAS 70 Type II assessment of controls over Consonus’ data center services. Consonus received an unqualified opinion SAS 70 Type I audit result from Grant Thornton in February of 2007. In addition to the information contained in a Type I report, a Type II report includes detailed testing of the organization’s controls, as well as the auditor’s opinion as to whether those controls are sufficient in meeting the organization’s objectives.

“This opinion by a renowned third-party auditor confirms what our clients have experienced for years,” adds Consonus’ director of operations Keith Evans. “They demand reliability, achieved through adherence to industry best practices, and we deliver.”
