Managed Services Spending Forecast Just Got Upgraded for 2018

For anyone wondering whether 2018 was going to be a great year of opportunity for managed service providers, this article should put any doubts to rest. According to Gartner's recent revisions to its Global IT Spending research, total spending in 2018 will reach a staggering $3.7 trillion, representing 6.2 percent. growth from last year.

According to  John-David Lovelock, research vice president at Gartner, "This is the highest annual growth rate that Gartner has forecast since 2007 and would be a sign of a new cycle of IT growth." The two categories with the highest rates of growth for 2018 are enterprise software and IT services spending.

Now, regardless of whether a declining US dollar is chiefly responsible for this growth, IT services projected to hit $1 trillion in spending (7.4 percent growth from 2017) will have a positive impact on the managed services industry. Combined with the increased pressure of GDPR going live on May 25, and sustained concern over safeguarding data, MSPs should have plenty of opportunities to solidify and grow their managed services relationships.
