MSP Alliance Announces Relationship With AIG’S National Union To Help Businesses Reduce Corporate Identity Theft And Fraud

CHICO, CA, May 10, 2007 – The MSP Alliance (The International Association of Managed Service Providers), today announced it has formed a relationship with National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. (National Union), a member company of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), to help businesses reduce corporate identity theft and fraud. As part of the relationship, MSP Alliance and National Union will work together to educate small- and medium-sized businesses about the perils of poorly managed Information technology networks and how mismanaged IT can leave their corporate security exposed to possible fraud and potential litigation

The relationship will also focus on educating small- and medium-sized businesses about the benefits of using accredited managed service providers to help mitigate the risk of corporate identity theft and fraud by improving IT management. Due to the proliferation of MSPs around the world, choosing accredited MSPs to handle corporate IT management and security has never been more important. Moreover, MSP members and their customers can benefit from National Union’s leadership in delivering risk management products and services designed to mitigate exposures to professional liability, identity theft and privacy issues.

“An information breach can severely damage the financial strength, reputation and customer loyalty of a business.  Businesses can best protect themselves and their customers through a combination of well managed information security and robust identity theft and privacy insurance,” says Lisa Butera, President of the Professional Liability Division of National Union.

“For the longest time small and medium-sized businesses have been unable to make IT work for their organizations due to a variety of reasons, some of which are not their fault,” said Charles Weaver, president of the MSP Alliance.  “Managed service providers are helping small and medium-size businesses bring their IT networks under control but also allowing IT to finally support and promote the objectives of these businesses. The insurance programs provided by AIG combined with the help of a qualified and accredited managed service provider will deliver an effective solution that was previously unavailable to many businesses until now.”
