Business Vitals Makes CRN Magazine’s 2005

COLUMBIA, S.C., July 29, 2005 – – Business Vitals, a Columbia-based information technology (IT) risk management firm, has been named to CRN magazines 2005 “Fast Growth Security” list of Americas fastest-growing IT security providers. The list is published in the magazines July 25 issue in a special report on the rapidly increasing demand for IT security and managed security services providers (MSSP).

Business Vitals specializes in information technology (IT) risk management services, including IT security audits, business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) planning, IT operational risk assessments, interim CIO programs and tactical IT support services that secure day-to-day business operations and execution.

In its fourth year in business, Business Vitals generated revenue growth of 91 percent from calendar year 2003 to 2004. In March, it opened offices in Tampa and Indianapolis to deepen coverage of eastern and Midwest markets. Jeff Brewer, president and chief executive officer of Business Vitals, expects that growth to continue and is planning further expansion for the company over the next two years, including more than tripling its sales force and opening two new managed services centers.

“Recent security breaches resulting in consumer data theft are bringing increased scrutiny to data security. Organizations realize they can no longer afford to take IT for granted,” says Brewer. “Companies already have to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley, but the regulatory pace will quicken, especially as security failures continue to gain public attention. Having a regular IT security audit conducted should be just as important as a financial audit or any other external audit. IT threats, whether theyre internal or external, are relentless. They dont stop and neither should business.”

CRNs “Fast Growth Security” list presents 10 security integrators that excelled in 2004. Integrators were ranked by revenue growth from calendar year 2003 to 2004, during which time they had to demonstrate growth of at least 25 percent. Each company also needed to be in business for at least three years, with a significant security practice and a minimum of million in 2003 revenue.
